“You look different today,” my beloved said to me once while we were having dinner. I smiled demurely and said, “Really, why do you think so?” And he answered, “Something with your hair. It makes you look sexy.”

Through this, I was able to show off my greater assets and conceal some of my less-than-nice features (I have often been teased about having big ears that rival those of Prince Charles’).

Creating your own updo is fun, and personally, I find it therapeutic. Having a new updo makes you look like an entirely different person, and it allows you to be an entirely different person as well. Try it some time.

Hold that part in place while smoothing out the remaining hair. Now (you may need some styling products for this) roll your hair towards your scalp, as if you were wrapping it around a roller. Secure it to your scalp with pins. Do the same with the remaining hair.

See how easy it is? Of course, it will take some practice before you fully perfect the Do It Yourself Updo, but you have all the time in the world. Experiment and find your inner stylist.

Just the other day I was browsing through an entertainment magazine and marveled at how much space each magazine reserves just for praising a celebrity’s choice of gown or look.
